The 2023 Census is due on March 7, 2023.
Why is the 2023 census for?
The goal of the 2023 census is to gather accurate information. This information will help the government, local communities, and businesses in making important decisions that affect everyone in New Zealand.
The focus of the census is to ensure that everyone is counted and represented in the information gathered. The government is giving more money to the census so make sure that:
- there will be more Statistics New Zealand representatives collecting the census information to help people fill out forms and
- the people will have more options in filling out the documents that include paper and easier-to-use formats.
The census will continue to work closely with New Zealand’s communities to ensure that they are comfortable in participation and everybody is counted. As a member of the Sri Lankan community, your participation in this exercise is important. Then, you ensure that the gathered data accurately represents the Sri Lankan community. The decision made based on this information will have an impact on all New Zealanders. Moreover, your involvement will guarantee that the Sri Lankan community is accurately represented in the collected data.
More information is given on the Statistics New Zealand website.
